1. Choose what goes and what stays
Check drawers, cushions, cabinets and boxes for documents, keys, photographs and valuables. Keep belongings you want to save in a separate area or label them clearly. For estate or shared-property projects, agree on the removal list before scheduling.
If the cleanout covers several rooms, make a short list by room. Identify appliances, shelving or fixtures that must remain. A clear removal plan prevents confusion when the crew arrives.
2. Show the whole project
Take wide pictures of every area and closer photos of large or unusual items. Include the path from the material to the loading area. If you cannot send pictures, call Bearcat and describe the project; we will discuss the information needed for the estimate.
- Every pile or room, including items behind the first row
- Stairs, tight doorways, elevators and gates
- Any item needing dismantling or special handling
- The spot where the trailer could park
3. Confirm access without doing the heavy work
Arrange a working gate code, entry instructions and any building or storage-facility permission. Move vehicles out of the agreed loading area and keep pets away from the work route during collection.
Tell us in advance about upper floors, long carries or difficult ground. Do not move heavy furniture solely to prepare for the quote. Bearcat handles the loading that has been agreed for accessible locations.
4. Prepare appliances and separate excluded material
Empty food and drinks from refrigerators and freezers. Discuss water, gas and electrical connections before pickup; disconnection and installation are not automatically included. Hot tubs and structures also need their utility status confirmed.
Keep paint, liquids, chemicals, tanks, cylinders and other excluded items out of the load. Review the Items We Take page and ask about anything uncertain before the appointment.
5. Review the pickup details
Confirm the items being removed, your address, access arrangements, arrival window and payment details directly with Bearcat. Choose one person who can answer questions and approve the work.
If you add items or the access changes, contact Bearcat before the visit. For an unattended pickup, agree on item identification, access and completion arrangements in advance rather than assuming a pile can be collected without further instructions.
